UTC Power   19 Jul 2005 14:20 GMTPage rating:

UTC Power, a division of United Technologies Corp., today announced that one of its S500 model transportation fuel cells successfully powered a 2003 Nissan X- Trail FCV for more than 25,000 trouble-free kilometers -- a significant milestone for automotive fuel cells.

The vehicle was subjected to real-world driving conditions over various terrains and under different climates. The fuel-cell-powered vehicle is proving its durability through a series of ongoing test drives.

UTC Power manufactures fuel cell power modules for cars and buses, as well as fuel cells for stationary applications through its UTC Fuel Cells division. Fuel-cell-powered vehicles are quiet and clean -- the only emission is water -- making them safe for the environment.

United Technologies Corp., based in Hartford, Conn., provides high-technology products and services to the transportation, commercial building and the aerospace industries. Its UTC Power division, based in South Windsor, Conn., is a full-service provider of environmentally advanced power solutions. With more than 40 years of experience, UTC Power and its subdivision, UTC Fuel Cells, is the leading developer and producer of fuel cells for on-site power, transportation and space applications.
