Volkswagen's Hunt wants to return brand to core values

AUTOMOTIVE NEWS   13 May 2005 15:46 GMTPage rating:

Len Hunt wants to return the Volkswagen brand to its core values of affordable German engineering and vehicles that are exciting to drive.

It's a formidable task. VW lost about $1.29 billion in North America last year. And U.S. sales of the Volkswagen brand were off 18.9 percent through April compared with the year-ago period.

Hunt, 49, anticipates VW will improve sales as it launches the replacement for its best-seller, the Jetta, and the arrival of the new Passat in August. In the coming 24 months, VW will launch about 10 new vehicles, including variants.
