Hi all,
I have a 96 Jeep GC and in the market for a new SUV.  I have been getting bad feed back on the new Jeeps having lots of problems so I was looking at the 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor.
Consumer Reports gives it an OK report but I would like to know from anyone who knows Mitsubishi and might know about the Endeavor although it is new this year.
Any help is appreciated

I would stay away from Mitsu, if possible. Their dealer support seems
pretty flimsy.

George:    Buy it and don't worry about it. Mitsubishis are a superior vehicle and I don't see why the Endeavor should be any exception. They are well engineered and use quality parts. I currently own a 2002 Montero and have previously owned another Montero and a Diamonte. Each was an exceptional vehicle. Ask anyone with one and they'll more than likely tell you the same thing. I've driven mine on over 2,000 miles of punishing southwest desert back roads in it's brief 15,000 mile life and there is not one squeak or rattle. I have a co-worker who refuses to give up his 1990 Montero that has over 180,000 dusty desert miles on it and he can easily afford anything that he desires.

My dealership sucks and the GM is a total sh.t head. However, the service department is great. Fortunately I haven't needed any repairs and it's only been oil changes and scheduled warranty service. The bad press that Mitsubishi received a few years ago was the result of some administrative bullshit and wasn't a reflection on their overall quality. They tried to make a good thing look better by lying about the number of recalls and service repairs but when they got caught the result was to make it look worse.

Good luck. If you use it off road get better tires and keep the stock ones for spares.

Thank you Bob for all the info and I think I will take the plunge and go for the Endeavor.  The wife likes the one we road tested very much and that makes the decision a lot easier.  Being an old back yard mechanic I looked under the hood and couldn't even find the sparkplugs or sparkplug wires so I guess Mitsubishi will do all the up keep which is expected with these new engines anyway.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
