what would cause a 92 d-21 pickup to get very poor gas milage?  5 speed stick
performs smooth       im guessing that i get appx 12mpg       no gas leaks
either

A leak in the fuel system, althogh this would tend to result in a bad smell.

Bad O2 sensor perhaps?

is the o2 sensor comprable to the choke on a carburator, whereas when the
engine needs to  lean &  rich it makes the proper adjustment?   Im thinking of
bypassing it with an appropiate electrical signal to the computer by way of a
toggle switch.
