Hi. Looking to purchase a used Lexus RX300 for my wife. Hoping that
someone in the know could summarize the primary differences between
model years. Obviously the cheapest would be the oldest, 1999 I
believe. But if, for example, drastic improvements in reliability were
made in 2000, I would want to consider this. Can anyone help? TIA.

Anyone...PLEASE.

Looks like 2000 and up with 60k miles or less can be Certified
Pre-Owned by Lexus, but you pay another $2500 for the car. Is it really
worth it for the warranty coverage up to 100k miles or 3 years
(whichever comes first) since Lexus is just building the "potential"
repair costs (~$2500) into the price?

I would never buy the first year of a vehicle... usually they are
loaded with problems that the next years have solved.

yeah, its probably a safe bet to wait for a second or even 3rd year model to
get all the serious kinks out.
