Hi,

I am having a problem and I was hoping that someone could help.  I
have a 1968 bronco,  I am absolutly sure that the front end has been
changed, but I have recently had a kingpin come out and I am not sure
how to tell the difference between a dana 33,dana 44, and worst of all
the dana 60.  I have seen a little on the web but nothing decisive.
Anyone that can direct me to a site or knows how to tell, would be
greatly appreciated I need to know which part to buy for which front
end!

Actully upon closer review, that website is in regards to rear ends and
I am looking for frontends.  I really appreciate it though mike.  Any
other help is welcomed.

A 4x4 just uses a rear end on the front, the covers are the same even if
some gears may be cut different as far as I know.

I do know a front 44 has the same apple on it's side look the rear has.
My CJ has the 44 in back and the 30 in the front just like the site
says...

It also says the 44 was used in the Bronco front ends....  The 60 is
stock for a 3/4 ton...

Are we reading the same site??????

If you had a king pin come out its a Dana 30. the 66-77 broncos only
came with a Dana 30 or a Dana 44 front axle. The 60's were under the
heavy duty 3/4 ton and 1 ton full size trucks.

ALL DANA 30 AXLES WERE DRUM BRAKE NON POWER IN THE BRONCO's

66-69 only had the Dana 30. in 69/70 they started going to a Dana 44.

Both were drum brakes up until 72/73. then ford started to offer some of
them with front disk brakes. in 76/77 ford also offered a power brake
option.

somewhere around 73-75 you may find a power brake optioned bronco but
those are a special edition blue white and red Bill Stroppe "BAJA"
Bronco and are pretty sought after within the bronco community.

www.bajabronco.com
www.bronco.com

does that help???
