I need help. I can’t seem to get the front wheels to engage in my 92
s-10. Here are some of the things i’ve checked.
Vacum: checked the hoses, in fact I have vacum to the acuator(sp)
when I start the truck even if the shifter is in 2 wheel, don’t know
if this is normal, but the acuator works it is pulling the cable. I
even unscrewed it from the case and made sure it was hooked inside.

Mechanical: when i shift into 4 wheel the front shaft locks and spins
when driving. When i shift into 4wheel low I get the normal little
grind and the rear wheels lock together but still no front.

Electrical: The lights on the console don’t come on no matter where
the shifter is. not even the one that tells you that it’s in 2wheel.

One of the things that I did do was jacked the passenger wheel of the
ground spun it and then put the truck into 4wheel. A friend told me
that the wheel should lock when you do this and it don’t.
So what else? diff broke? I hope you guys can come up with something
else besides that.
thanks Mike

To me, it sounds like your tcase is not going into 4x4. I don't know
what model it is, so I can't give you specific suggestions. The lack
of lights is a clue.

(FWIW, many tcases shift into 4x4 (lock) mode by sliding a sleeve on a
shaft. Problem is the sleeve slid linkage is a spring and if the
sleeve sticks it won't shift into lock. )
