1998 Cheverlot Astro Van Fuel Pump?

Greetings fellow Mechanics , my 1998 astro van
(RUTTROW) van is dead stranded at Va Hosp where i was last made 2 attemps
of retiving it, the symtoms are the engine 4.3 v6 fi 140 miles on vehicle
cranks ok but wont go to final start process like fetching the fuel,the
remove air cleaner and FI duct dry no fuel smell at all, changed fuel
filter and very little fuel came out from fuel line to engine, OBD acctron
scan read 107 so i changed manifold absolute press sensor , no worky! i am
sure the pump is in the tank i was wondering if there was pre pump on the
engine? I can,t change the fuel pump at the VA parking lot to messy! is
there anything else that activates fuel pump? any help would make jump
with joy

?? Didn't know the Rastro was a 4x4, but it probably has the same engine as
some vehicles which are.

There is a secondary fuel pump on the engine -- called a fuel injector.
Unfortunately it's uphill from the gas tank, so you must have the pump
in the tank working in order to get fuel to the fuel injector.

I have heard that banging on the gas tank can sometimes unstick a failing
fuel pump long enough to drive home.

Well, the Astro/Safari is available with an AWD system that is very
capable, making it close to a "real" 4x4. (The low ground clearance
is the real hindrance to these vans and that can be improved with a
lift kit.)

Chances are your pump is bad. How many miles? I suggest you go here:

Check out the forums and you will see there is plenty of talk on fuel
pumps and related as they seem to go out anywhere from 100K to 200K
miles. (And some times before 100K....)

The search feature on this site doesn't work as well as it should, so
if you don't find the troubleshooting info you need, just ask.

Oh, and there is only the one pump, but sometimes the fuel pump relay
can be a problem and/or the wiring to the relay and then on to the
pump.
