I know this sounds patronizing, but are you 100% sure you got all the
bolts? And the linkage, driveshaft, etc? When this happens to me I
find I've just missed a screw or bolt somewhere that I didn't think
there was one. There is no 'magic' on the GM automatics... You did
unbolt the torque converter from the flexplate, right? (Yes, you can
remove it without doing this but you risk damage to the pump and front
seals).
Lot's of 'salt' damage? Remember, the engine and guide pins are steel
the bell housing is alumimum, and can stick together.
