manual door locks converting to electric

I have an old (I mean old) 4-door truck with manual locks, you push the
handle down once the door is closed. I can get electric locks at JCWhitney
but I am clueless about the process of converting them. I don't even know if
it can be done. Has anyone ever done this? Any help out there?

Lots can be converted depending on the linkage. You would need to open
one up to see. Most have a second linkage for the lock. If yours only
has one, then you might run into some 'interesting' design challenges.

In my opinion, electric locks are a real pain in the but when they get
older. Old wires flex and break, grounds get punky, rain shorts things
out because the door seals aren't sealing any more or the drains are
blocked, etc...

But if you are doing a detail restore, then anything is possible to do.
Even fitting new door latches so you have the right linkages for a
separate locking mechanism.

I am still planning to convert to power locks and I appreciate your input. It
will probably get very imaginative since I am not sure what I'm doing but I
have found a better supply for the locks, ebay.
