Greetings, we're looking to pick up a v8 and sizing up the Tahoe v/s
GC.  We had an old I6 Cherokee that was absolutely fantastic to 200k
until the tranny gave and now a local fellow is selling a 2001 we may
be interested in.

How reliable is the v8?  We will be using this car for trips and mild
towing (we rent an occasional 12" chipper and other goodies to work on
the house).

Thanks for any information.

Depends on the V8.  The Mopar 318 compares well with the I-6 for
longevity given any reasonable amount of care.  The 360 was available,
again can be extremely reliable presuming nobody drove the heck out of
it.   Sounds like your towing needs should easily fall in the range of
any of the GC models including the I-6 up thru V8s.
