Broken rear axle/diff freelander

My friend phoned me today and told me he'd broken down in his freelander.
the rear axle is broken it's possibly the diff. Anyone had any problems
with freelander rear axles before??

Not really. Did he blow uout the spider gears for spinning the tires
too much as that is a weak link in any diff.
