Shoving sawdust in through the oil filler works better. . . . . .

You wiener, this is misleading information.
1. There are no oil filters on manual transmissions
2. Packing the gearbox with Rolled Oats works better

Learn to read - I said FILLER not FILTER!

> 2. Packing the gearbox with Rolled Oats works better

No, cereal based products break down and ferment to easily, sawdust is more
stable. . . . . . . ;-)

Must have been a typo. I'm sure I meant winner :)

Hmmm, fermentation. Maybe barley might be worth trying.

This used to be an old trick to quiet one down just long
enough to sell it.  e.g. on a car that normally used
20 to 40 weight oil, stuff in some 90 to 120 weight
lube and unload it on a hot day, since it is gonna
be really hard to shift when cold.

Depending on the vehicle, you might be able to keep it
alive a bit longer with a synthetic oil of heavier weight,
 e.g. Redline.
