I have a 2002 Acura RSX Type-S with just over 37,000 miles on it. The
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (shaped like an engine) stays on
constantly.
I have had this problem before but taking the gas cap off and then
putting it on again making sure to get three clicks has always solved
the problem after a subsequent trip or two.
I have tried five clicks to no avail. Before I go in and get soaked
by the dealership, I was hoping someone could give me some advice.
I'm just grasping at straws but do you think it would be worthwhile to
buy a new gas cap?
respectfully,
Ricci

There's more to it than gas caps. That check engine light comes on
when the ECU detects any one of dozens of problems, some piddling,
some serious. See

It's a pretty good bet that something else is causing the MIL to stay on. Gas
caps don't go bad that often.
