This might sound corny, but I don't second guess OEM design. Oil saturated
filters contaminate the air mass sensor "hot wire" and oil gets on the
intake valves.
I was just asking what results were noticed by others, but this n.g. is not
frequented enough to capture responses.

Are all washable air filters coated with oil? I do not believe so.
And "OEM design" takes into consideration many factors such as quietness
that some may opt to have more power and a bit more noise.I know the RSX
intake is restrictive:Honda Tuning Magazine did an article on it and tested
available CAIs,short rams,and the K&N filter alone.The CAI's gave 20 extra
HP and increased torque, the short rams were 5-7 HP gains, and the K&N filter
alone was no change. The magazine testers also did flowbench tests of all
the intakes.

What do you mean by that? I'm not sure I understand. What don't you
question? (I know what OEM means).

Good call. I replaced the OEM filter with a K&N drop in filter in my 97
2.2CL and it significantly increased my low end power. Also, it improved
gas mileage a tad. After a few months I replaced the whole works with an
aftermarket pipe and K&N cone filter. It improved low end even more, gas
mileage is better than stock and it's not much louder unless I floor it.
