Does anyone have recommendations about application of dressings to the TL
black dash board and trim?  I generally do not like those products,
especially those that leave a greasy appearance.  However, it would seem
that the black material could use some UV protection.

Meguair's has a "natural shine" product that will work nicely.

It is available at PepBoys and other stores.

I was applying Meguair's Leather Cleaner and Conditioner to my seats
when I though, hey, a good portion of those seats are vinyl, aren't
they? So I proceeded to wipe all of the interior vinyl with the stuff,
dash and all. Works great!

PS: I tried the Acura Uphostery cleaner. I didn't like it at all.

But just a cautionary tale - I, until recently, had a restored
non-Honda 'classic' with a vinyl-covered front bench seat.  My father
in law, meaning well, cleaned the seats with Pledge wax polish.  I had
to be very careful on bends for quite a while.

I haven't put anything on my dashboards beyond a wiping with a damp cloth
for 15 years now with no adverse effects.  They don't crack and come apart
like they used to.

If you do put something on the dash be careful that it doesn't create so
much glare that you can no longer see out the windshield.  Our 240SX has a
black dash and was greased up by the dealer when we bought it.  The glare
was so bad it was impossible to see out the windshield at certain times of
the day.  We ended up getting one of those fitted dash rugs for it.

I'm using this <http://store.yahoo.com/autopia/303-30340.html>
with good success.  It works well on both the vinyl and the
textured rubber stuff over the gauges.

It says "No other protectant beautifies and protects as well as XYZ".
Don't they *all* say that? And besides, not performing "as well" might
actually mean performing "better". Truth in advertising, I guess...

Well, yes they all say similar things.  However, MY opinion is
that 303 will protect from UV damage and it leaves a nice
non-glossy sheen.

I agree with the 303 product.  It is sold to protect hot-tub covers from the
sun.  You can find it at pool and spa supply stores.  It doesn't contain
alcohol that dries out vinyl like armour-all does.

Since my original post of 8-17 I have collected tons of data and opinions
on various products.  I think most if not all are fine products.

I called a local detailing shop who recommended using Meguire's #40 vinyl
& rubber cleaner/conditoner.  That product is in their professional line
of products. I called Mequire's and ordered from them since that was also
their recommendation.

I have applied the product and am very satisfied. Gives rich low luster
effect.  No shine or oily appearance.
