Hi --

I just bought 2004 Acura TL with Navigation system. I have
Sony-Ericson P800 phone (which is blue-tooth compatible).
They said, hands free should work with all Blue-tooth cell phones. We
went thru the setup and we successfully paired the phone with the car.
But when i try to make a call thru the car, it was giving the message
"No phone Found". We tried the setup couple of times and every time we
were able to successfully link the phone but had problems making a
call.
Then we called Acura Hands Free Support hot line and now they are
saying P800 is not in the supported phone list.
I just wanted to see whether anyone had any idea about this problem?
If i can't have my P800 linked, can i have two phones with the same
number.so that i can buy another supported phone to use it just for
Car?
I don't want to give up my P800 because it has lot of other good
features.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry, neither the P800 nor P900 will work since they don't
implement the Handsfree Bluetooth Protocol (only
the Headset Bluetooth Protocol). Acura doesn't say you
can use any Bluetooth phone, they say you can use any
"Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone that has a hands-free profile."

Thanks for the clarification. Is there an adapter i can buy to use it
with P800 to make it Hands Free?
I don't want to give up p800, since i like it's PDA features.

Thanks

Nothing that I'm aware of.  There was a rumor that HFP might be
added via a firmware update (at least for the P900), but I don't
believe there's any firm info. I guess you could call Sony-Ericcson
and ask or post a message in alt.cellular.bluetooth.  BTW, I meant
"Handset Bluetooth Profile" not "Protocol". Should have proofread
my response. :-)
