I am replacing my Michelin HX MXM4 205/55-16 RSX-S tires at 4/32" wear. I
notice degrading performance at and below 4/32" (especially noise and
slipping and sliding in intersections), the sipes are disappearing at that
point. State law is to replace at 2/32".

Anybody else do this?

For my Audi A4 (Quattro), I have the same tire size and just put on
Goodyear Assurance Comfortred's.  $104 a tire plus mounting.

I have to pay $149.00 per tire, as I'm a believer in "you get what you pay
for". I don't know how people get reliable assesments of tire quality.
Thanks for the reference to the Comfort treads.

Yes I replaced the tires on my RSX type S around this point. Driving on wet
roads was getting scary. I went with Yokohama AVS DB S2 and am quite pleased
with them. Much less expensive than the Michelin and better on wet roads, a
little quieter too. Handling is comparable, straight line traction better...
