I just purchased the 2004 MDX and I love this car in every inch.
One glitch is that when I apply break, sometimes, I hear loud clinking
noise. I own 2000 TL, and I know the sound and feel of ABS. This noise is
definitely not ABS.
This clinking noise occurs when I apply the break on bumpy road. Yesterday,
the noise was so loud like the car is breaking apart.
I talked to the Service manager about this problem. After test drive, he
said that he couldn??t replicate the same problem.
I talked to the driver who provides pick-up/drop-off service to the
customers. This year, he almost always drove the 2004 company MDX for
pick-up service, he said. He claimed that he also experienced the same
problem when he drove the company MDX. The loud banging and clinking noise
came from under the body when he apply break. He said he reported to the
service manager, and the service manager WAS aware of the problem. He said,
even the service dept. is aware of the problem; they admitted that they
couldn??t figure out where the noise comes from.
This problem is so random that sometimes happened on smooth road.
Is anyone who having same problem like this? Any cure for this glitch?

Sounds a lot like the clicking noise i was getting on my civic. For me it
was especially loud when braking after going from reverse to forward. Honda
told me that these brake noise were expected on the civic... So far my TSX
doesn't have that problem...

There is a TSD for something similar this, described as "clicking from rear
brakes." I get a clunk from each rear brake the first time applied when I
change from forward to reverse.
