I just had the transmission recall mod done last week.  The service
manager told me he did the optical 2nd gear check and it was fine.
Is the transmission oil replaced as part of this mod?  I wonder if the
optical check can be performed with oil present.
Does anyone know the details of the mod other than the description
provided by Acura?
TIA

Hi,

Don't know for sure if they replaced the transmission fluid, but they
should have installed a new oil jet which is installed through the
filler pug on top of the transmission. They should be able to view the
gears for overheating with a borescope machine, which uses fiber
optics to view into the transmission.  A camera can also be attached
to take pictures of damage. The gear are not submerged with fluid, but
sprayed with oil through a pump system. If they didn't put in a new
external line through the fill plug, the recall was not properly done.
They should be able to complete the inspection in about an hour with
the new jet and oil line included.  If damage was found to the 2nd
gear, then the tranny should have been changed.

The job took about an hour while I waited.  The service manager found no
problem so I guess the TL is OK.  Time will tell.
 Thanks for your response.
