I have a '94 Acura Integra LS (without VTEC). I've been told that platinum spark plugs won't do well in this engine. Does anyone know why? I used them for years in my '88 Accord without any problems. I wouldn't think that there would be much of a difference.

Nothing wrong with platinum plugs, but I would stick with NGK or ND.  I've
heard people talk bad about BOSCH plugs in hondas.  The only difference you
might notice with platinum plugs is that they will last twice as long, and
probably cost 3 times as much.

Who told you that?

I had a 94 Integra LS that had NGK platinum plugs in it and they
worked fine.  As the other poster said, I would only use NGK or ND,
wouldn't use a product from Bosch (or sometimes referred to as
'Botched'.

Some engines don't like platinums. I have an '85 Volvo turbo and I tried
platinums in it. I checked them maybe a year later when I was getting
misfires and there were only holes where the wire electrodes used to be.
Then I found out from the Volvo gurus that platinums do that in the B230
series engines. Huh.

Also I don't use Champions any more. Bad experiences in the 70s.

'90 Integra.  Have used NGK, ND, Bosch Platinum, Autolite (yes) and Delco.  The Autolite and Delco lasted the longest.  The Bosch were good but didn't last as long.  All worked just fine otherwise.  Suggest that pure synthetic oil might be the difference.  Fewer carbon deposits.  VTEC and higher rpms from more modern engines might also make a real difference.  The '90 'Teg was an understressed engine (caveat emptor).
