re: reset warning light when you start your car for service on a 99

I have a 99 Acura TL and want to know how do I turn off the service warning
light.

Do you mean the check-engine light or the maintenance light?

The former indicates a problem and has to be either reset with an OBD-II
reader or you can disconnect the backup fuse (passenger side in-car fuse
box, 7.5 amp fuse marked "backup") for 10 seconds.

The latter signals periodic oil changes and the directions to reset it are
buried in the owners manual (without a reference in the index).  On my 2000
TL you reset it be holding in the select and reset trip meter buttons, turn
the ignition key to position II (but don't start the engine) and keep
holding the buttons until the light goes out.
