I have never noticed any difference in the shifting on my 2000 cold vs.
warm. It has only gotten to 15f here in the Dallas area a few of times
since it was new and the car was actually out of the garage and in it,
though.
When you say very hard to shift, do you mean the shift lever is physically
hard to move, or the transmission is hesitant/slow/abrupt when changing
gears? If the lever is hard to move, I would say something wasn't put back
correctly when they replaced the trans. Either way, it probably calls for a
trip back to the dealer to make sure they didn't screw up.

Thanks for the response. Its hard to physically move the shift lever.
There is no catching or scraping feel it just feels as though the
fluid has turned to molasses. It shifts smoothly going through the
gears by itself and its easy to move the shifter once it warms up.
Just a problem when its cold.
