Real-time traffic issue on 2005 RL

Hi,

I got my new 2005 RL at the end of last year.  I love the car, but the
one issue that I have is with the real-time traffic info that should be
displayed on the Nav system.  It worked when the salesman delivered the
car to me, but stopped working shortly after.  The dealership is great,
but tell me that it needs a software update that should be available in
February.  Are other owners seeing this problem?  I live in the Boston
area.  Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris.

Hi,
Just got my RL this week.  Love the car.  So far, the real time traffic
info works well.  I live in So. Cal.

The best website for all things Acura (besides the factory site) is
www.acurazine.com    They have a section devoted to  the new RL.

They have over 55,000 members and lots of good info.

To follow up on my original posting....Had the RL in for a set of
recalls yesterday.  One of the was to replace the Acuralink unit, which
fixed the real-time traffic issue - it is now working properly!
BTW, they also replace a speaker in the front-door - nothing wrong with
it to my ears, but it was another recall.  They also did something to
the PCM system.
Everything seems good now....

From an Acura "Product Update" of Feb 2005:

Dear RL Owner:

This notice has been sent to you to inform you of four potential
problems with your vehicle and what you should do to resolve them.

1. Front Door Speakers - A manufacturing error in the front door speaker
gaskets may allow water to enter the passenger's compartment.

2. Driver's Door Control Unit - When you unlock the driver's door by
touching the door handle (keyless access method) or by pressing the
UNLOCK button on the remote, the exterior and interior lights randomly
may not illuminate.

3. Powertrain Control Module - The current programming in your vehicle's
powertrain cntrol module (PCM) may cause the engine to shudder the first
time you stop the vehicle before the angine is fully warmed up.

4. AcuraLink Control Unit - After you start the engine inside a
structure such as a parking garage, some of the vehicle's communication
systems may work erratically, especially the AcuraLink real-time traffic
monitor.

What should you do?

Call any authorized Acura dealer, and make an appointment to have your
vehicle updated. The dealer will complete all needed updates on your
vehicle. This work will be done free of charge. Please plan to leave
your vehicles at the dealer all day to allow them flexibility in scheduling.

What to do if you feel this notice was sent to you in error.
(etc., etc., etc).......
