Acura TL gas pedal feel

Does the TL have an electronic gas pedal..?

I ask becasue the feel of it isn't quite "normal."  It seems as if a lot of
pressure, compared to other cars, is necessary to maintain freeway speeds.

Even our Pilot SUV, which is 1000 lbs heavier with less power, runs the
freeway with barely any pedal pressure, while the TL needs to be pressed
down quite a bit.

If it's electronic, can it be adjusted by the dealer for a more normal
feel..?

It's called "drive by wire" and is part of the latest government-regulated
OBD-II emissions reduction efforts (millions of dollars for that last
0.01%!). Yes, your Acura has one of these.

The 2005 Pilot also uses "drive by wire". I take it you don't have a 2005?

If they can replace the pedal spring with one of a different temper, yes.
Call the dealer and ask if the pedal spring can be replaced with one that
is easier to move. If not, you're SOL, a victim of the federal government's
EPA.

Better than being a victim of lung cancer, eh?

Yes - but the OBD II requirements don't improve your chances of averting
lung cancer. OBD II does bring modern technology to bear on reducing CO and
HC emissions (and Nox to a lesser extent); whether it is a good trade-off
for the frustrations and often needless expenses the actual implementation
brings to us is a question we may not yet be able to answer. By any
reckoning second hand tobacco smoke is more associated with lung cancer than
auto emissions are.

For those who have suffered the very Draconian penalties of the EPA the
question about lung cancer may fall the other way - lung cancer may not be
as bad.

Yeab, it's a 2005 Pilot, but the gas pedal feels normal on the
freeway.  Maybe just a better implementation of the smae
technology..?

I picked up a 2005 TL last week (finally) and I noticed the increased
pedal feel too.  But after a week of only very light driving, I've
gotten used to it and aren't noticing it much.  I assume in another
month it will feel normal.

If it's the only car you drive, then maybe it'll become "normal."  We
have other cars which *are* normal, so the TL is very annoying.
