hey all. i'm new ti this board.

i'm on to finding out what may be the problem of this 93 integra. the car oil light turns on even if the oil's full. i've also checked on the sending unit, which seems to fine and the oil pump's been replaced not too long. what should crack this out..

i'll be glad to get some of your help here.. thanks..

The very first thing is to find out what the oil pressure is actually doing,
before you run the engine for more than just a short test. Even if you find
a short in the wiring, for example, it only tells you you still don't know
what the pressure is.

If you can't rent an oil pressure guage to fit in the sender hole, you can
buy one at most auto stores for a modest price (at least, a tiny fraction of
the price of a new engine.) If you have at least 6 psi at idle - the actual
minimum spec for your engine may be different, but this will get you a
go/nogo test - there is something wrong with the warning system.

If you aren't seeing good pressure, there is either a blockage or the oil
pump has failed, or even something exotic like the pickup falling off. In
any of those cases, the oil pan will have to come off for a look.

Why was the oil pump replaced?

Yep. Eliminate the sender unit as a cuplrit. And DON'T drive the car until
you know for sure.

The minimum for this engine is 10psi at idle.

Questions:

How many miles on this car?
What was the frequency of oil changes?
Has the engine been rebuilt, or has the oil pan been removed at any time?

If the oil pickup screen tube gasket is missing or damaged, you'll suck air
with the oil.

If the oil pump was replaced, that suggests the oil was infrequntly
changed. These pumps last nearly forever with timely oil changes.

If the new pump was installed incorrectly, oil will squeeze past the O-
rings, leading to a drop in oil pressure. If the "new" pump was poorly
rebuilt, you'll get the same low pressure. Is this "new" pump from
AutoZone, by any chance?

Duh.

If the oil pump has been replaced, then the oil pan's been off. Ignore that
question.
