In the winter I run my heat between 75-80. I like full mode because I like the heat coming from the bottom of the inside of the car. Problem is: (and it's taken me years to figure out why), but the heat blows directly on my right foot (I drive a lot), makes my right foot sweat and I get athletes feet, but just on the one foot. I simply got an axe and chopped my foot clean off at the ankel bone and now it doesn't sweat any. Bleeds a little bit, aches some, but it don't sweat none. Make sure your axe is real sharp because if it is sort of dull liken mine was it'll hurt a lot after the first few whacks. I barely could chop thru that big old bone on the fifth swing, but the good Lord saw me thru it all and now "no more sweaty feet". Well sweaty foot I mean. And dont wear no good britches or socks because they'll get to looking right bad in a hurry. And you might want to get a sock or towell or something to bite on while you whack away. Instead I use manual control to blow max. heat until the interior warms up sufficiently for me to adjust the fan speed down to a more reasonable level. I keep the interior at about 67F or so. 75-80F in auto mode during the winter is the problem, not the 2000 TL. Alternatively, you could get one of those remote starters and let the car idle and warm up for 10 or 20 minutes before you get in. Once the interior is warm you should be able to run the auto-climate control at 70F and avoid the hot foot experience. I know this because when I replace transmissions and PCM's I once forgot to put the carpet back under the duct and the customer complained saying his feet were not getting hot anymore!!!
