There was a transmission problem that mostly affected certain 3.2 V6 models
from '99 to '03. Honda extended the transmission warranty to 7 years/100K
miles on those models, and has even displayed willingness to cover models
that might be outside the list. TSB 02-027 covers this issue.
Most of the affected vehicles should have been dealt with by now. To
confirm that your intended car has, call your local dealer with the VIN and
ask if that car has been in for any transmission work.
The most common source of problems with all Honda automatics is the use of
non-Honda ATF, which causes harsh, jerky shifting. It doens't do any damage
in the short term, but you won't like the shift action.

Acura replaced the transmission in my 2003 TL Type S under warranty about 6
months after the transmission service upgrade.
