I've had the car almost 2 years now, but only recently have had to use
the nav system intensely. I've encountered two interesting things,
both might be bugs:
1. If I set the illumination intensity to "Auto" and leave for work
in the dark, once the sun comes up (even if I turn off the
headlights), the illlumination intensity does not go to Day unless I
switch to some other screen, such as Audio and then switch back to the
Nav map view. I presume the code only reads the light intensity
sensor when some sort of input is received from the user from the
control panel.
2. I an unable to turn off the verbal navagation voice. Setting it
to off has no effect. I can set it to off and restart the car and it
is still on. Turning it on and then off also has no effect.
Has anybody else seen either of these? I only found one place in set
up (screen 3) to control the voice. Did I miss something?

Haven't seen your problems, but it reminds me of a question...
We've got a 2004 TL, and I'd like to know if there's a way to edit a location
I've put into the nav system so it can have a name like "Bob's House,"
instead of just the street address..?

My Day/Night illumination has never worked on it's own in auto mode and as
far as the verbal goes I turned the volume on her voice down all the way,
never did try shutting it off.

If owners don't raise these issues with Acura how do they ever get dealt
with?

Good point.
Navi system (software) upgrades occur once per year sometime in the fall...
period. Occasionally a "patch upgrade" might happen sooner, but this is rare.
For the guy with the illumination problem try turning the 'dash illumination'
down one click from max bright. I think that will fix your problem.
