With XP it was easy to just selectively block the morons who started
spamming newsgroups like this MI5 wingnut but now I can't figure out how to
do the same thing under Vista. Anybody got a tip.....?

1. get a better newsreader that can do some kind off filtering.
2. get a better newserver that does some sort of prefiltering.
3. I'd be very careful about who you are referring to as morons on
usenet, considering how clueless you are currently appearing to be...

On the Message menu, under Junk Mail, just choose to add this sender to the Blocked
senders list.
Unlike on XP, existing downloaded messages will not be automatically deleted.

What does the OS have to do with it?

The default "Windows Mail" (Vista) has differences from "Outlook Express"
(XP). Not all are for the better in my opinion.
