When approaching destination Automatic transmission gets caught in the current gear and gear release button will not depress.  This can happen when going from drive to park or park to another gear. Light register on the dash is also hesitant.  Any suggestions much appreciated.

Same problem here - seems to happen only when the temperature is very cold.  I've done some playing with the shifter when it happens and the dash light will then turn on - allowing you to shut off the key.  I'm guessing there is a switch in that shifter linkage that is hanging up.  Idling awhile and warming up will usually fix it too.  Obviously the real fix is to find that switch...

I have had the same problem here in Colorado Springs when it is below 40
degrees. The key stays stuck in the ignition for a few minutes. I just
wait, then it comes out. Some times the car will also stay stuck in
park. I took it to a mechanic and he tried a few things which didn't
work, then said the next step was to replace the ignition system which
would cost $300+

I had this same problem with my 91 integra. I solved it for less than $1. If
you remove the console that covers the automatic shift lever, there is a
white (? I did this a year or two ago so my memory is vague) plastic switch
device on the passenger side. I wrapped a zip tie around it to keep it
secure to its point of contact and I haven't had a problem since.

How can I get a hold of you Art?
I have my console taken apart(see picture) and I don't understand how
you used a zip tie to wrap the switch together. Could you please give a
more detailed description as to where you wrapped it.

Thanks in advance.

The problem is with the shift position switch itself - the white box
on the right side of the shift lever.  You'll notice that the contacts
are suspended by springs, and that there is also a spring loaded ball
in a sleve.  Those parts are lubricated with grease, but over time the
grease gets hard and prevents free movement of these components.

So just take the switch apart, clean the parts and reapply some fresh
grease.  Just make sure you align the switch and shift lever properly
when reinstalling - the ball will rest in the groove in the switch
when the lever is in Neutral.

Good luck

I found some more info at these

One guy suggest to replace the Shift Selector Switch
http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=453575

and another guy says to clean(degrease) the sliding switch.

Can't access the 2nd link, but I'm sure they're talking about the same
thing.  You can either replace it or clean & regrease it as I had described.

Is this an automactic? If so, the following may apply:
I am not sure about the 92, but the 95 integra has a keyslot next to the
stick which unlocks the shifter. Put a key  (any key) in it to move the
stick, move it to park and get your regular key out.

Regards,
Remco
