Just picked up my '04 TL in Black/Ebony. I am motivated to keep the car
CLEAN inside and out. Can anyone recommend a great wax for the exterior?
Seriously - no turtle wax jokes.
I'd like to put wax the car before the next rain here in NY.

I asked the dealer to stay away from the car with the orbital buffer and he
obliged. This is the first car I picked up in Black WITHOUT swirl marks and
I 'd like to keep it that way.

I have a question.  The plastic/metal trim around the grill on the '04 TL on
my
Desert Mist/Camel/5AT is a bear to clean.

To me, it's hard to remove smudges and such on this trim.

Does anyone have any advice or similar experience?

What about the navi screen? Can I use the same type of cleaning wipe that I
use on my laptop screen?  The finger prints didn't come off with a
microfiber cloth and a little distilled water.

I have both a 2004 TL and an NSX.  The car wash liquid and the wax I use is Zymöl.

It even provides a discount for NSX owners for their products.  I really like its characteristic odor; made with banana, lemon, and coconut extracts (sounds like a pina colada).

The web site is:
   http://www.zymol.com

Congratulations on the new car.

What does a pina colada sound like?

Also, check out www.zaino.com for a very special series of car care
products.

A caution.  I have learned on the Internet in many forums that car
manufacturers in the US, Europe, and Asia have switched to a water-based
paint for environmental polution reasons.  This paint is softer and takes
longer to cure than the "old" oil based paints.  In its first months, before
being fully cured, it can succomb to paint chips.  For some owners, it has
been a sustantial issue.

I am waiting for my new 2004 Acura TL in Nighthawk Black Pearl with camel
leather interior.  If I get it with swirl marks, it's going to hit the fan.

The Zaino website will tell you the products and techniques to avoid swirl
marks or get rid of them.

I'm wondering if I should refrain from waxing until the paint has had a few
more weeks to cure in the Florida sun??

Excuse the error.  The correct site is:

Avoid "waxes" which can soften paint over time (wax-based polishes
are also suceptible to heat and UV damage).   Highly recommend Nu-Finish.
There are 3 tricks to using Nu Finish.  1) Have a clean, dry surface (as
with any wax, polish).  2) "Cover" with Nu Finish, do NOT rub.  3) Let Nu
Finish DRY completely (like leave it for 1/2 hour).  If you rub it in
thinking you'll get a better shine .. . nope.  If you don't let it dry
completely it's difficult to remove and doesn't provide the protection it
should.
