Body side molding on 2004 TL is a dealer install "accessory" (MSRP - $175
plus installation!) - never ran into this before in all my new car purchases
including several Acuras. Always factory installed and part of the base
price.
Not sure why they did this unless some feel car looks sleeker w/o the
molding.

I asked about body side molding since I am used to getting it as well.
Advised that they, Acura, feel majority would feel that it ruins the lines
of the car. I didn't take it on mine and after seeing photos with body side
molding I would agree that it does nothing to enhance appearance and that I
am glad I didn't get it.

Obviously an opinion, but I agree it looks better without it.

Most likely Acura thought the car would look better without. I bought and
had it added to mine. The moulding doesn't look bad at all compared to door
dings.

Does it help much on the door dings? Seemed kind of thin to do
much. I was thinking of getting it when I buy, but was a little
concerned it was just the stick on option, and like looks a little
better without it.

Yeah, Acura's getting cheaper too, with their standard options. One way to
keep the price lower... <eg>

Acura getting cheaper?.......With STANDARD Bluetooth, XM, DVD-A 6CD,
Sun-Moon roof, dual driver memory for seat, mirros, HID on/off, MID.... I
think not.
