Sounds like the biggest problem has already occurred - cam belt failure.
These really need doing every 36k, but that won't worry you for a while.
Other engine related issues are the variator (if it sounds like a
diesel, the variator needs changing) This often gets done with the
belts.
If you are new to Alfas, check oil regularly, at least every 1k miles
and use a good quality semi-synthetic.
Rear suspension arm bushes can go quite quickly. Electrical problems are
still a bit of an Achilles heel.
Mine is 99V with 56k miles, owned for 4 years and I still look forward
to driving it every day. An awful lot of fun for the money. I know of
several with over 100K on the clock still going well.
Find a good independent specialist and it won't cost a fortune to run.
Enjoy!

Heh, this one popped its head gasket after burning out a couple of exhaust
valves.. allegedly.. I suspect belt failure.. it's on 68000..

Nope, I'm not new to Alfas.. I've had 2x 2.0 164s, 1x 164 3.0 12v, a new 164
Q4, and a 155 Q4, I just wish I'd brought the two Q4s back from Italy.

My 164 has no real electrical faults, the air distribution stepper is
knackered, and the oil pressure gauge doesn't work (the light does though)

My current 164 has 126500 on it and is strong as an ox. One of the front
bushes is beginning to knock somewhere though.
