Hi all
car is 156 1.8 1999 (UK T) 39k on the clock.
When going slowly (<20mph), if I break (usually softly - ie in a traffic
queue) I can hear a quiet knocking. It appears to come from the drivers
side but other than that its hard to tell. If I roll and the break again
it doesn't happen, but then if I speed up and break it does. Its as if
something is shifting and then the momentum 'puts it back' only for it
to shift forward again if I break. Probably happens at speed too but
cant tell due to engine / road noise.
Any ideas what this might be ??
Only had the car a month, AA gave it a clean bill of health when I
bought it (ie no knocking then)

That will be the engine mounting-rubbers which are worn.. had the same
issue and was fixed within some hours at my dealers..

Sorry, it's a leased car, so can't tell.. You could just ring your dealer
and ask them..
'luck,

Hi NC
I had the same noise on the passenger side 3 weeks ago. Turns out it was my
anti-roll bar. If you take it in, ask them to look at that aswell, it's
fairly easy to get to once the wheel is off!
Not sure about costs, I got mine done under warranty...
Good luck!
