MOT Fail :-(

For the 155, that is.

Corrosion has made a small hole in the driver's side wheel arch.
Brake bias valve seized.
Headlamp aim low. (Why they didn't use the electric adjuster on the
dash, I don't know)
Broken Exhaust Rubber.

I'm more than slightly dubious about all of the above, mainly because
the last 2 should, IMHO, have been advisory only.

I can't feel anything wrong with the brake bias valve, I'm sure I'd have
noticed if there was something wrong. (My 'tame' mechanic didn't when he
did the brake pipes last week)

As for the corrosion, it's also dubious as to whether it's structural or
not in that place.... I may well be wrong, though.

Well, lesson learned, that's one MOT station to avoid in future. I'll
drop it into my tame mechanic next week and he can take it to his
friendly regular MOT guy.

£25 down the drain, then.

Looks like I'll have to take it

Sounds like a dodgy MOT to me. I can't imagine that a small hole in a wheel
arch is a fail. A broken exhaust rubber is definitely a bit keen. The headlamps
are supposed to be checked with the electric adjuster set to normal I think. It
reminds me of an MOT I had at Kwik Fit many years ago. They failed my car on
lots of things that didn't need doing and ignored a bald tyre and broken number
plate. I took it elsewhere which really annoyed Kwik Fit. The 2nd garage agreed
with me. Just put it down to experience and go elsewhere.

This is the inside of the arch - suppose it's what you'd call the 'inner
wing' - still doesn't look even remotely structural to me.

I've had cars with pretty terminal structural rust fly through an
MOT....

Where did you get it MOT'd Steve?  Just curious cos my Tipo failed on 2 of
the exact same points you had - broken exhaust rubber and corrosion in the
rear drivers side inner arch.

Mine was the front arch... but it looks like it could be a Tipo floorpan
related problem.

I'm pretty sure you didn't get get it MOTd at 'Penallta MOTs and
Servicing', though.
