Alfa 166 - Air Con Error

My Alfa Romeo 166 ( 2.5 V6) gives me an error when I start the car. The
error says something like :-

"There is a problem with the air condition unit. Please contact the
Workshop".

I then press the OK button and the ICS screen displays as usual. If I then
select the Climate screen on the ICS the error shows again.

Any idea's what might have gone wrong with the ACU or what I could check ??

Could the aircon just need regassing?

Has this airco pbm already been solved. My 166 TS shows exactly the same
error mgs, although the airco works perfect
