connecting a mini ipod to a 147??

Evening all.
Anyone here connected a mini ipod succesfully to a 147 ??

It is a 2001 lusso if it makes the slightest bit of difference, standard
stereo, (I think it's a blaupunkt??)

If you have connected one, can you tell me if you can change between
tracks with the controls on the steering wheel?!

I had one, but had to send it back..... it was for the <whispers>
Passat, but VW, in their wisdom sourced the 'gamma' audio kit from
several different manufacturers, and the kit Dension supply doesn't fit
the variety I have.
