Yesterday my '99 156 V6 Steering started whining at low speed/revs but
only when I turn right?  Sound lessens the more I drive but is still
noticeable , as is a slight intermittent vbration through the wheel.
As an alpha newbie I was wondering how easy it is to check the steering
fluid levels or where I need to be looking for leaks?

This may be a broken bearing in your front left wheel.
