After seeing these advertised on TV, I went on a mission to track one
down.

My local supermarkets didn't have one, but the local pikey emporium next
door but one to my shop got a delivery of them this week. So I bought
one.

Woke up quite early this morning, and was out on the drive with my
hosepipe at 9.10am.

Followed instructions - spray car with water, spray with soap, sponge to
remove dirt, spray clean, then switch to 'auto dry' de-ionised filtered
water and rinse.

Have to say, it works very well - I had a shiny clean car in 25 mins.

Definitely worth the £18 I spent.... but I haven't looked into the price
of refils yet.

Hi,

So it seems to really work....:-)
Maybe you can give me some more details so I can
see if it's available in the Netherlands as well.
A link to a website or manufacturer would be appreciated.

Also want a shiny car in 25 mins.

http://www.uk.pg.com/products/products/flash.html

It's a Proctor & Gamble product, so should be available to you.

Reckon on 30 euros for the starter kit and 15 euros for a 10 wash refil
kit, I think.

Thanks,

If I can't find it here, I'll just have to pick it up when in the UK.
No problem since I'm there at least once a month.
Tesco is always near :-)

Bet that Tesco charge you a lot more than Steve paid :-)

I've been told they're £19.99 in Tescos, so not too much more.

However, I tried several Tescos and Asda stores without finding one.

TIP:
After the normal cleaning job (time needed depends on how dirty you let te
car get and on your rims ....) just rins the car with a bucketfull handwarm
water with a few table spoons of the shining fluid you use for your kitchen
dishwasher.
After drying (by the sun or hand), the automatic "nice" shine can be easily
"upgraded" to a very high shine by just a quick polish with i.e. a woolen
cloth.

My dishwasher uses a rather expensive product from her Avon catalogue, and
think that she would deeply resent my using it to clean the car <LOL>

The application of "elbow grease" has always been a winning formula :-)

Seriously though, do you recommend "woollen cloth" rather than "cotton"?

If I have the time, I do get out the polish and wax my cars and bike,
but when you don't have much time on your hands, the Flash kit looks
pretty damned good.

You have me convinced hands down, Steve. Then again I don't polish
anything other than my specs ( Mind you, I would like the ability to do so)
but I do like to make the chore as easy as possible for those who do. I
figure that I stand a higher chance of getting the job done more often :-)

Yes provided the wool is free from dirt/sand corns etc.
It shines better/easier, but does pick up scratching dirt like sand more esy
as well

This is what I thought about when I read your post.
As you say, the car must be properly clean before using.
I will pass this on to my car cleaner and ask her to try "wool".
