The near-side rear light on my 156 is glowing constantly, even when the ignition is switched off. With the ignition on, the bulb warning light on the dash comes on. When the lights are switched on, the warning light goes out and the bulb operates normally. I've tried a different bulb, checked fuses but can't figure this out. I saw a previous post which said the earth connection beneath the rear light cluster could be loose, but I've checked that and it's tight. Any ideas gratefully received. It's probably the rev counter which all of the bulb warning electronics in it. Apparently it's a common fault. Good news : it's an easy job (it's only held in by 3 screws) so no need to go to the dealer. Bad news : a new rev counter is about 130 quid. I had trouble for months with warning, rear fog light off, when it was working, all it was ,was a slack connection between the bulb and the bulb holder, once tightened up no more faults. If odd lights are dim or switching on when they shoudn't it sometimes means an earth fault. Get some wire and fix it to a good earth, then touch the side of the bulb.
