Faulty (?) rain sensor

Guys,

Need your experience :) Here's the thing: I bought a 2nd hand 147 and
I'm delighted with it except for a couple of bugging nuances. Let me
share one of the odd items:

Rain sensor seems to be very 'low sensitive'. Don't get me wrong - it
works, only usually it turns on when the windshield is almost
completely wet. Even in the pouring rain it never got to non-stop work
(while I'd put it on max-speed myself).
Is it the same for you guys?

Another thing is the sensitivity ring on the right lever. Playing with
it makes *zero* difference to the sensor sensitivity.

Appreciate any insight/direction.
Alex

PS. Windshield was replaced, but has same logo as the original one
(unless it's a different model - in which case I don't know how to
check it).

Looks to me that when replacing the windshield something went wrong with the
sensor.
This sensor is behind the rear view mirror and "reads" the amount of rain
drops.
On the orther hand, yuo mention that the position of the ring on wiper lever
doesn't make difference to the sensitivity which it should.
This would indicate a defective sensor (sensor damaged during window
replacement?)

Question:
When the lever is on "normal" interval position, does the ring make a speed
change to the wiper interval times?

Thanks for taking time to answer..
Well, as to the 'normal' interval position - how to say that - I don't
seem to have it on my functionality list.. Here's what the lever does:
-/ - OFF
-- - Sensor (sensitivity ring doesn't work)
-\ - Slow motion
-| - Fast motion.

So I never experienced any use for the damn ring so far.. What's
interesting is that they (authorized Alfa garage) that the ring
shouldn't affect the sensor work which is complete opposite of the
manual..

Cheers,
Alex
