Actually, I think that's pretty amazing. At least it wasn't an old Nova
or something!

Well, while it is (IMO) utterly pointless, it is also (again IMO) a pretty
impressive technical bit of work.

It's just fact. One cannot build a Gucci purse from a Japanese sow's ear
and get anything out of it other than a sow's ear.

Wouldn't be too sure - an NSX is quite rapid as standard, if he's had
any breathing done on the engine then it'll be a seriously quick tool.

Now that's really odd.

Actually, there is a big business in taking old 250 2+2s (not worth a
lot) and re-bodying and re-building them as 250 GTO knock-offs. I've
seen some that one would have to be an expert with an uncommon knowledge
of Ferrari serial numbers to know they were fakes.

There are at least 100 of those 250 GTE or PF coupe to GTO conversions. They
are worth about 150000-200000 Euro while a 250 GTE is worth only about
60000. However the conversion costs are more than the resulting car will be
worth.

How odd is it to put a V6 in a Giullietta while good 75 V6 are readily
available? :-)
Quoting myself from here above: "However the conversion costs are more than
the resulting car will be worth.". If everybody was sensible there were no
old Alfas on the road, maybe no Alfas at all just economy boxes.
Had to mention this to keep the thread Alfa related. It was Alfa related
because here http://home.tiscali.nl/308gto/115.jpg.htm is my beloved but
momentary unattended-just-drive-until-something-breaks Alfasud next to "the
bastard".

Ahh, but mine is unique, and a *lot* cheaper.
Personally as well, U prefer the look of the Giulietta to the 75, but the
engine of the 75 to the Giulietta.  A plan with no drawbacks (apart from
the cost, of course) :)

Don't get me wrong. I like odd things, but I really can't see the point in
making a car look like something it's not, kit cars excluded.

I didn't make it look like something it is not, I made it look like a
beautiful car, which it is now, the perfect shape in my opinion not meaning
my actual (lack of) craftmenship which is average. It looks now like a nice
fun car and that's what it is. Still a "308" badge on the back but no more
big US bumpers and sidelights and nice fat wheels now in a wider body. Just
like for you the perfect car didn't exist, Giulietta V6, and you had to
build it, I did the same, a 308 GTS (targa) with GTO muscular look. It has
the perfect "look" now, a real 288GTO is wider and has a longer wheelbase,
but is not better looking, just different. Others may disagree and I have no
problem, in fact there was a discussion on a Dutch forum were the project
was flamed to the ground but I was not offended and even posted a link to
this discussion on my site.
