Well, yeah, it is sublime, but that's not the car Alfa will be selling
to you lucky Euros later this year. The Brera in the picture is the
ItalDesign show car from 2003. The production car does not have the
Lambroghini "scissors" doors, but rather has normally hinged doors, the
bonnet (hood) is shorter thannthe one on the show car (to accommodate a
transversely mounted V6 (for Front/All Wheel drive) rather than a
longitudinally mounted V-8 as in the show car). The Production Brera
also does not sport the show car's exciting interior, but will, rather,
share its dashboard/fascia with the more pedestrian 159 Sedan.
My biggest complaint with modern Alfas is the dash with its insufficient
instrumentation. A sports car should have a complete instrument package,
tach, speedo, oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature, petrol,
and alternator. Idiot lights and "check engine" indicators might be
good enough for milady's sedan, but a driver of a sports car needs to be
better informed (IMHO, of course).
