Hi,
Can anyone suggest a decent Alfa specialist within easy reach of the
Docklands? I've thought about Veloces but I'd rather not drive all the
way up to Stanmore (and get the train back, and back again) if there's
anything closer.
I need the belts changed; it's a 2001 2.0 with 61K on the clock. I
can't see any record of it ever being changed by the fleet company
which maintained it from new, or by the Alfa dealer which did the 48 &
60K services. Picking it up this afternoon so this'll be the first
thing I have done before going anywhere in it. Veloces have quoted me
£450 for the work which seems reasonable given some of the things I've
read here.
Thanks & regards,
Tim

You don't need a specialist - any half decent mechanic is perfectly
capable of doing a belt change. As I've posted elsewhere, I can get it
done for £250.

Have you rung the dealer that did the services and asked them ? They will
give you the data if you say you have bought the car and give them the VIN
etc. Might save you a few pennies if it has already been done :)

Good idea, thanks. Will do that Monday.

Got to find one of them then - many mechanics in this end of London and
they can't all be good. I just thought it'd be easier asking for an
Alfa specialist in this group. I have seen your other posts about this.
Maybe buying the belt kit direct and having it fitted would be the
cheapest option.
Thanks.
