MOT emissions fail

Hi all my 145 cloverleaf failed it's mot on emissions ! bugger . Does any
one know if a bad air mass sensor could be the problem ??

More likely to be the lambda probe.

Certainly could, but as SteveH says, more likley the lambda, unless you've
noticed a huge drop in power and flat spots everywhere....

Which is nice cos a lambda probe is *much* cheaper.

It olso got a CDC air box on it could that have any thing to do with it ??

Hmmmm.  *Possibly* but I'd doubt it.

I had a 33 1.7 with a Cat which failed.  The technician at the MOT garage
suggested a thrash up the A3. 15 minutes later the car passed after some
fast motoring and a return to the garage with the system really hot.

Well put a new lambda probe on it now £45 runs better now as well so lets
hope it will MOT now !

my '89 spider failed miserably - like2 to 3 times more bad fumes than
allowed (houston texas and that is saying a lot). Am trying the same
solution recommended to you, except here that part is called an oxygen
sensor. It runs about $170. Plus a tune up and a few other items like the
oil vapor separator (aka - oil canister). Will keep you informed and would
appreciate the same.....good luck to both of us.

Sorry peeps just swaped it for a MX5 with 35000 miles on it been lowered and
a s/s zorst needs a bit of TLC but will be worth more in the long run shame
is i did love the 145 clover but the piggs are taking an intrest in my
driving lol
