Alfa Spider 1986
Exhaust gas oder in the cabin when the top is up. I have had the exhaust

What should I check???

The two facts you're presented don't (I think) go together
Either:
a) Your pipe is leaking
b) It's not exhast gas you can smell....

Is your tail pipe extending past the rear panel, if it is not the fumes
may be going around the inside of this panel then into the car. I had
this problem with sound drumming into the back seating area of my 147,
after fitting a chrome exhaust trim, the sound went away from the car
and now it's fine in the back.

A dam?

The fumes might be being drawn in from under the bonnet. Check the
manifold for leaks. You might also check all the exhaust gas
re-circulation hoses and the EGR valve (don't know if the spider has
these or whether they can be a problem - just a suggestion).

Supposedly, the tip of the exhaust pipe should be turned down like the
stock pipe was. Make sure that all the potential holes in the trunk
area are sealed.
