Turns out I may have lucked upon a "stolen" car. The person that has the
car has now put it into hiding, and the story he told me about selling
it to a parts yard was to throw me off. I'm now having the DMV do a
title search based on the first 7 digits of the VIN so I can find out
who really owns it. Hopefully I can buy the original title from them,
transfer they car to me, and show up with a couple of Sherrifs Deputys
and ask for "my car."
Turns out this guy owned an exotic repair shop back in the 1980's, and
I'm guessing this car belonged to a customer. We have started calling
every towing service within 10 miles of the guys house hoping to find
out where he has hidden it. One way or another, I'll find out what the
story is.
Pete... sorry, but I see a resto project in my future. I'll keep you
guys informed of progess. If I do get it, I'll have to sell my other
cars? Anybody else like SAABS? RickW

Rick,
I'm in the process of doeumenting all existing 2600 SZ cars. 57 of 105 are still believed to exist. Please contact me off the newsgroup about the car you mentioned. I'd like to hear more about it.
My email address is "tubut<at>iname.com".
I had to substiture the @ sign with <at> in order to make the e-mail address human readable but out of reach for Spambots.
Cheers,
Ruedi
