Nope - has a perfectly running 2.0TS just as i wanted it - but need diesel due to transportation cost etc. Buying a 2.4 Diesel i way to expensive in Denmark, unfortunately (cost more that 10.000 Euro extra than my own - same year, but without my personal "modifications" :D ).

Over here (UK), you can buy pretty good 2.4JTDs for less than 7000 Euro. Is it some kind of Danish tax thing that makes the 2.4 so expensive or is demand for these in Denmark just very high?

I.e. a new 156 GTA cost around 100.000 Euro over here.

Gary Taylor - 20 Oct 2005 20:35 GMT Probably a lot cheaper to buy one .... you'll end up changing more than just the engine/gearbox .... electronics, suspension, exhaust, suspension/engine crossmember, .......

Bert Kanters - 21 Oct 2005 19:01 GMT Instead of moving engine and associated from 2.4JTD to 2.0TS, move the chassis number from 2.0TS to 2.4JTD :-)

alfistagj - 21 Oct 2005 21:42 GMT well you would have 1½ year to save that amount wouldn't you ;-(

Lunacy. There is no way any 2.0TS is worth this conversion when you can go and source a complete 2.4JTD for not much money now. Apart from gutting the mechanicals (engine/gearbox/fuel system), you'd need replacement dashboard instruments to show the different revs and the glow plug warning light (I think). Then there's the higher current electrical system..etc.etc. The job would be endless..

Ever tried bying a Car in Denmark? A 11/1998 (same as mine) 2.4 having run 133.000 km costs around 22.000 Euro! The sales price for my own is extreme low due to high kilometers (242.000) all though the car is almost perfect (app. 12.000 Euro). The 10.000 Euro difference easely covers a "conversion" (I think).

It cost less than that, but not much and is a much *MUCH* simpler job......

But maybe we have to reconsidder.

In fact, if I bring it over, how long does he think it will take?

I think the 2.4 JTD has a fair number of *other* differences compared to a 2.0TS, e.g. brakes and suspension, which are more like the 2.5 V6.

IIRC, the brakes and suspension options were the same for the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 - which is one reason the extra weight of the 2.4 and 2.5 caused them to suffer too much wallowing on UK roads.
