147 JTD 16V - just had a second turbo pipe... apparently it rubs against a
stud on the engine so the replacement routes the pipe 1" away from the stud.

My friend had warranty rework done on his GT during his last service, so
it's worth asking about before you get the whoosh of escaping gases as it
splits (like mine did, again!)

Thanks Cupra!!

I thought I was imagining the sound of a hair dryer! Also explains why it
doesn't feel as brisk as I thought it was originally!

Is the pipe that is replaced the one from the turbo to the intercooler? I
had a look around but can't see anything a miss. Or maybe it just "opens up"
under pressure.

That's what brought it to my attention the first time it happened!

Not sure of the pipe location as I left it to the garage to sort (warranty)
although they told me that the hole was a pinhole and the turbo pressure
still forces a lot of gas out....

Booked in at my dealers tomorrow. They seem very understanding these days!!
"I'm sorry to hear you have a problem sir?"... but then again, with 20 years
of Alfa-driving under my belt, I'm a very understanding customer!

Thanks again Cupra!

Regards

You mean they found a pipe? There was a supposed wait of 2 weeks for mine
until I protested loudly!

Hmmm! Well I guess I'll find out tomorrow! I can live with it for two weeks
if it doesn't get any worse....shirley they can make a temporary repair??

Cheers Cupra for the heads-up.
My girl's 147 MJet was in today for a repair to the steering wheel stereo
controls (loose connection). I asked them to check this too and they found
the problem starting to occur so apparently replaced the stud.

Incidentally they were surprised to find it on a phase II 147 - they thought
the problem had been rectified on the newer cars.

No probs - glad it was found before the tell-tale whooshing noises!
